Earlier this winter I printed a six color serigraph, entitled Study for Ebb & Flow, to begin a body of work for a larger exhibit. The image depicts bull kelp, giant kelp and swirling ocean currents in a rhythmic pattern.

The edition is limited to 10 and is hand-pulled on Arches 88 paper, which is heavy weight, 100% cotton fiber, acid-free, neutral ph and buffered. The paper is mould made in France. I used transparent water-based inks in shades of pale aqua, sky blue, yellowish greens and marine blue. 

Image area is 7h x 24 3/4w inches, paper is approximately 11h x 28 3/4w inches.

LISTING IS FOR ONE PRINT, it does not include frame or matt. Prints are signed, titled and numbered. Item will be shipped rolled and please use UV protected, conservation clear or museum glass when framing. Please note, colors may appear differently on various displays. Our short sleeved, SURFER t-shirts are hand printed with charcoal ink on yam-colored, 100% cotton, pigment dyed, Comfort Color t-shirts. The t-shirts are pre-shrunk and run true to size. Please note that with pigment dyed t-shirts, blemishes may occur due to the dying process. 

The Kraken, a sonnet by Alfred Lord Tennyson, was written in 1830.

Below the thunders of the upper deep;
Far, far beneath in the abysmal sea,
His ancient, dreamless, uninvaded sleep
The Kraken sleepeth: faintest sunlights flee
About his shadowy sides: above him swell
Huge sponges of millennial growth and height;
And far away into the sickly light,
From many a wondrous grot and secret cell
Unnumbered and enormous polypi
Winnow with giant arms the slumbering green.
There hath he lain for ages and will lie
Battening upon huge sea-worms in his sleep,
Until the latter fire shall heat the deep;
Then once by man and angels to be seen,
In roaring he shall rise and on the surface die.

Handprinted on periwinkle linen with charcoal colored ink.

The pillow measures 16x26", has an invisible zipper closure, and is filled with super comfy synthetic down insert. Print is on front only.

"The Mermaid and the Sea" is limited edition serigraph (screenprint) by artist, Ashley Van Etten. Originally illustrated in 2009 for use on a Big Bucket Tote, as a 4 color print, the work is now available as a 6 color serigraph.

This is a unframed, hand pulled, 6 color serigraph and is a limited edition of 30. The print is signed and numbered. This is not a reproduction but an original work of art by Ashley Van Etten.

The image area of the work is 26" wide x 16" high, the paper measures 30" wide x 20" high. This is hand printed on Arches 88 printmaking paper which is a heavyweight (140 lb.) 100% cotton fiber paper. It is acid-free, neutral pH and mould-made in France. The ink is water-based and transparent, giving slight variations within the edition.

This was Ashley's first 6 color serigraph. The Mermaid and the Sea was an experiment in printing different colors with multiple screens. It's been printed on paper and canvas, and here, reproduced on a card.

Printed on heavy, recycled matte card stock, 4 5/8" x  7 1/8". Available as single card or pack of 5, both include envelopes.

My mini tote is handprinted on cotton army duck canvas, with water-based textile inks, that have low toxicity and a soft hand. I use 1" wide cotton webbing for the straps and there is a small pocket inside.

The tote measures approximately 6" wide x 7.5" high x 5" deep. Self-standing with a flat bottom, french seams, no exposed edges. For care information, please refer to Care Instructions in our Store Info.

I keep a small inventory of totes but most are made to order. Please allow up to 2 weeks for shipment. If you'd like a color that you don't see available for a specific print, please email me at ashley@willywaw.com.

My totes are handprinted on cotton army duck, chosen for it's smooth surface and stiff hand. Each has small print on the inside facing and identification as a Willywaw handprint on the bottom. I do not print yard goods so each tote and pattern is unique to the size and shape of the bag.
