This illustration, entitled Silversides, was created for CERF, the Coastal and Estuarine Research Federation conference, which will be held in Providence, RI in 2017. Our studio is near the URI Bay campus and I've been fortunate to be able to work with several professors on a variety of projects.
The image features Atlantic silversides, the most abundant fish in Narragansett Bay which is a vital link in the food chain, as well as wrack, eelgrass and diatoms. Blending art and science has been a favorite theme throughout my work.
The image was created using watercolor washes and digitally rendered graphics from drawings made by hand.
The cards are blank inside and digitally printed on Fabriano Medioevalis, a mould made paper from Italy. The paper has deckled edges and a rich, creamy texture that is easy to write on. Note cards are 4 1/2 x 6 5/8 inches, envelopes 4 3/4 x 7 inches.
